When you listen to your guests you learn alot I have found. But asking the right questions, is the hard part.
When you run your own business, you like to think that you have got all the answers, or at least most of the answers. And if you work on that premise, you will never grow and never truly give your guests what they want. But when you listen to your guests, it’s an easy transition to enlightenment. Where is this blog going you ask!
Over the last 6 years Ningaloo Reef Holidays has gone forward in leaps and bounds. Implementing online booking systems, accounting modules, survey forms, feedback forms, offering hire items, making life ‘automated’ in every possible way we could. But do you know what! That is not really what our customers wanted. They did want an EASY online booking system. They did want emails to pop into their inbox to remind them of payments and to tell them what to do. They wanted less fuss and bother. They wanted more personalised customer service.
We asked our guests! They told us!
Welcome to the new era of Lodgix. Our returning guests will now see a much simpler, streamlined booking process. Our new guests will be pleasantly surprised at how easy and logical our new booking system is. Ningaloo Reef Holiday Homes are thrilled to be moving forward with a pared back, simpler approach to booking. So we will have more time for those personalised customer service moments, more time to chat to our guests and answer questions. More time to enjoy what Exmouth and the Ningaloo Reef has to offer, (we love where we live).
Big shout out thanks to Scott Sansoni from Sanz Web Development he is a total legend and truly gets the hospitality and tourism industry. Also to the guys at Lodgix who have made the transition way too easy. They know customer service!
So we asked our guests what was important to them, and they answered. When you listen to your guests you can make a difference to how you operate.
Fishing spots in Exmouth are spectacular both for beach fishing (including spearfishing in designated areas) and boat fishing. It does not seem to matter what size boat you have or what beach you go to. If you know where the fishing spots in Exmouth are you are generally guaranteed a catch.
Popular beach fishing spots in Exmouth are Learmonth Jetty, Pebble Beach and the Marina and Canals on the Gulf Side where you can use both lures or bait depending on species you wish to catch.
Popular beach fishing spots on the West Side are Five Mile Beach, The Oysters Ledges off Mildura Wreck Road short walk to the right and Trisel Access just a short distance past the Lighthouse Caravan Park. The West Side does have sanctuary zones so check with Department of Parks & Wildlife https://www.dpaw.wa.gov.au located at 20 Nimitz Street Exmouth.
Popular fishing spots in Exmouth for boating in the Gulf is in any area with bombies (reefy coral structures) maps of these spots are available from the tackle shops Exmouth Tackle and Camping and Blue Water Tackle You can anchor or drift over these areas where many species of fish thrive. There are plenty of spots close to the shore and further afield if you want the bigger deep water fish.

On the bucket list for many a tourist or nature lover is to swim with Whalesharks, and there are only a few places on this planet where you can do that. Exmouth is a remote town, in the North West of Western Australia. Approximately 1270 km north of Perth with a population of around 2250 permanent residents. The Exmouth Peninsula runs the entire length of the World Heritage Listed, Ningaloo Reef Marine Park.
Swim with Whalesharks
Only from Exmouth can you jump on a charter boat and go swimming with the Whalesharks (season runs March – August). Only from Exmouth can you scuba dive or snorkel the Ningaloo Reef and the pristine waters off the Sanctuary zones.
With five whaleshark tour companies running out of Exmouth, you are spoilt for choice if you wish to swim with whalesharks on the Ningaloo Reef. Check out the websites of the companies listed below:
The World Heritage listed Ningaloo Reef is internationally recognized as one of Earths last ocean paradises. Among the largest fringing reefs in the world, the Ningaloo Reef can be accessed straight off the beach – something very few coral reefs offer. You can take a dive in the clearest turquoise water imaginable to view hundreds of colourful tropical fish and pristine coral gardens. Snorkel with sea turtles and graceful manta rays.
The Ningaloo Coast and in particular the Exmouth Gulf sees the highest density of humpback whales in the Southern Hemisphere during the annual migration from Antarctica (June to November). During this period, 30,000 humpback whales visit the Ningaloo Coast and can be sighted from shore, or you can take in a whale watching tour.
World Class Fishing
Or you can hook into world class fishing. The continental shelf runs closer to the Australian mainland off Exmouth than anywhere else in the country. The Region offers fantastic game fishing, especially for the marlin. All three Australian species of marlin are caught here in good to great numbers, along with an incredible range of other game and sport fish. Charter and tour boats specialising in game, sport, reef and fly fishing are available all year round.
The Ningaloo Coast offers visitors the freedom to independently explore and enjoy without restrictions. Spend a day snorkeling pristine coral gardens, find a deserted beach to enjoy all to yourself, hike the trails of the Cape Range National Park, observe the local emus stopping traffic on the main streets, camp along the shores of the Ningaloo Lagoon. You can swim our waters all year round, perfectly safe! The choices are endless and yours to make.
Plenty of Accommodation Choice
Accommodation in Exmouth is varied. But by far the most popular is staying in a unique and privately owned holiday house. All we do is manage holiday homes, so we think that gives us the advantage, and our returning guests agree! We have homes in town, on the Marina, budget priced to luxury. Many homes are pet friendly, and all are meticulously maintained and immaculately clean. We are your only choice for holiday accommodation in Exmouth on the Coral Coast and Ningaloo Reef.
Exmouth Wholesalers are a family owned and operated local business in Exmouth. Open, not only to the businesses in the area, but also to the general public.
This thriving local business is an essential resource for the Exmouth community. Providing provisioning for offshore operations, commercial fishing boats, local charter boats, all our fabulous restaurants and us…..open to the public.
The staff at Exmouth Wholesalers are always happy to assist. When you arrive just introduce yourself and ask the girls if it is OK to walk around the dry store. You can access the cold store easily from the main warehouse. Grab a trolley on your way around. Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance. Should you want something from the freezer, then ask the staff at the front. The floor is iced in there, so safety is their main concern.
But how much is everything? There are no prices on any of the items. Remember, you are shopping at a wholesalers. So most items are in bulk quantities. Sure…..you can grab one box of crackers from the larger carton. You will be charged only for the one box obviously. You can purchase items singularly, not in bulk. Prices will be on par to supermarket prices when you purchase like this. Bulk shopping is where you save. If you are really concerned about the price of something then simply ask at the front counter. The Exmouth Wholesalers staff are more than happy to assist.
I personally shop at Exmouth Wholesalers when I am doing a big party, or want something special to serve. Buying a whole strip loin of beef, or a 5 kg box of Exmouth Kailis Prawns, or a tray of Coffin Bay Oysters, or a fantastic frozen ice cream cake for a special birthday. The possibilities are endless.
So rounding up. If I was in Exmouth on holidays for a length of time and wanted to stock up and save, I would shop at Exmouth Wholesalers. If I was having a big party and needed to purchase in bulk and save, I would shop at Exmouth Wholesalers. If I wanted to purchase two carrots and a litre of milk, I mightn’t bother (even though you can easily do so.)
As a bonus. When you stay at an Exmouth Holiday Home you will receive a gift bag from Exmouth Wholesalers giving you a 10% discount on your purchase. Now that is a great saving!
Check out Exmouth Wholesalers Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ExmouthWholesalers/ for contact details, opening hours and great specials.
