But a little local knowledge goes a long way.

Pet Friendly Holiday Homes in Exmouth

Dog Friendly Houses

Whilst we have many holiday homes accepting pets, this does not mean that every pet friendly home will be suitable for your pet. So don't presume that the fences will be high, the gates will be padlocked, the dog will be allowed inside.....it is up to you when you make an enquiry to ask the questions, to ascertain the best fit for your particular dog. Some houses will accept 1 dog only, some two.

No more than 2 dogs are allowed to reside at a property as per Shire Regulations. There are many nuances and it is foolish to presume that just because a house is 'pet friendly' that it will work for your dog. We know dogs, so just ring and ask us.

Dog Friendly Beaches

Every morning and evening the beaches around Exmouth are filled with dogs getting their sunrise/sunset walks. The Town Beach northwards, and all the beaches from Bundegi Beach down the gulf are all 'off leash' dog friendly beaches. There is a small patch directly underneath the Town Beach to the Yacht Club, which is off limits to dogs and cars.

Over on the westside (or the Ningaloo Reef Side) of the peninsula, there are only a limited number of beaches available. Basically, all beaches up to Tantabiddi Boat Ramp are dog friendly. After that, you are in National Park where no dogs are allowed. But, be very mindful when taking your dog to a beach on the westside. The stretch of coast line that leads up to the National Park is also a Turtle Sanctuary. This means that Turtles nest on the beach at times of the year. So at sunset you need to be very mindful. Also if you have a dog that could dig up Turtle eggs then please don't take them to the turtle beaches.

Contact the Cape Conservation Group for more info or visit their site www.ningalooturtles.org.au The Rangers at various times of year bait the surrounding dune area with 1080 poison to detract egg stealing foxes. Contact the Department of Environment and Conservation office in town before heading out to these beaches. http://exmouthinfo.com.au/directory/305/department-of-parks-and-wildlife

So all that said, finding a selection of pet friendly holiday homes in Exmouth could not be easier. This site clearly indicates on the top of every page all the pet friendly holiday houses in Exmouth which are available.  Or click on the link for redirection now www.exmouthholidayhomes.com.au/feature/pets-welcome/

Send an enquiry stating the age and type of dog you have. Also a bit about his/her habits. Is it an active dog, a sleepy dog. Will it be out all day with you every day. That sort of thing.

I cannot stress enough. A dog that is lazy and sleepy at home, usually will not be the same when it is travelling. Most dogs in a strange environment will be trying to set new boundaries and often, many dogs get anxious. Don't presume that how your dog behaves at home will be the same as how he behaves on holiday. After all, we all can go a bit crazy on holiday!
